History
Sysman commenced operations in 1982 to provide
mini-computer systems running the Pick Operating System.
A range of applications solutions was offered including those for the
retail, insurance and radio station sectors some of which were sourced
from EDP Plc in the UK.
In 1984 it identified the need for an Emergency Services Call Centre
system similar to those installed in 911 Centres in the US. It locally
developed and installed its first emergency system in the
Pietermaritzburg Fire Department.
From then until the present, Sysman has been the major provider of such
systems in South Africa with a market share of over 90%. Not content
with simply software solutions it expanded its development into
specialised hardware solutions to handle Radio & Audio Switching, Control
Systems for Emergency Centre and Sub-Station systems all of which were
integrated into the software applications. It further developed a number
of Security Products including REMRAD (a radio-based, fire detection
telemetry system) and TELEAiD (a telephone based emergency alerting
system.)
In 2004 a new black empowerment company known as
Sysman Vunumphelo (Pty) Ltd was
formed.
In 2005, and as a result of the introduction of legislation, Sysman
developed and released a major new system known as DRM targeted at
Disaster Planners.
Today Sysman continues to operate in the Emergency Call Centre and
Disaster Management markets as Sysman Vunumphelo.
